Hormonal Imbalances
According to the journal Eukaryotic Cell (a journal that studies yeast), estrogen can impact the expression of yeast cells, making them harder to get rid of which is why some women find that treating their yeast infections get harder over time to treat.

The Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine also showed that postmenopausal females who were on estrogen therapy experienced vaginal yeast infections 26% of the time compared to 4% of women who were not on estrogen therapy.

Uncontrolled Diabetes
Women who have diabetes are more likely to develop yeast infections because they have more sugar available in their body.

A weakened immune system has the reduced ability to fight yeast overgrowth.
