Below are sections offering information for common questions as well as various elements of skin boils and abscess.

+ What is Skin Boils and Abscess?

Skin boils, or abscess is usually found in the armpits (axillae abscess), anus, vagina (Bartholin gland abscess), groin, the base of the spine and tooth (a dental abscess).

Medical studies have shown that most boils do not respond to abscesses and the frequent use of antibiotics may cause the bacteria to become even more stubborn which may predispose you to have reoccurrences of skin boils/abscesses.

+ What Causes Boils or Abscesses?

When your hair follicle becomes blocked, and as a result, the bacteria starts to grow. This growth leads to the formation of an abscess, which commonly is known as a boil (furuncle). As a result, the abscess is often tender, red and painful to touch.

Inside the abscess is pus and debris which continues to grow and often was difficult to find a way to get rid of them. Antibiotics are often prescribed even though they have a high failure rate.

+ What are symptoms of Boils or Abscesses?

Boil, or skin abscess, occurs when there is a collection of pus that forms under your skin. Once the collection of pus has grown, you can experience a firm reddish bump that is tender and swollen around the skin.
In some cases, the boil or abscess may spontaneously drain, weep, or ooze.
