FAQs on Psychology

What is the difference between a psychologist and psychiatrist?
Psychologists and psychiatrists both specialize in human behavior and mental conditions. However, the training and approach to help individuals and couples are different.

The primary differences between the two is to do with the training. Psychologists in clinical practice have a graduate degree (either masters or doctorate) in clinical or counseling psychology. Psychiatrists have a medical degree, and as such, are able to prescribe medication.

A psychologist can do psychological testing with tests that are well-researched, while psychiatrists typically do not.

What kind of problems can you help with?
Some people come to see our psychologist for mood disorders such as postpartum depression, depression, anxiety, phobias, anger or resentment issues, attention-deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD), as well as premenstrual mood symptoms (including PMS).
