A Brief Introduction To Homeopathy |
| |
What Is Homeopathy?
|
| |
Homeopathy is a complete therapeutic system of medicine which individualizes the treatment of a patient. Homeopathy uses micro-doses of natural substances to help stimulate and strengthen the natural capacity of the body to overcome disease by using the body’s various systems (i.e. immune system, endocrine system, digestive system, etc), bringing back a balance to the body, while getting to the root cause of various health problems.

Homeopathy: Individualizing Treatment for Greater Results
|
|
| |
Homeopathy is a balance of traditional medical knowledge (medical science, diagnostics, etc), intertwined with a tailored, holistic approach.
This balanced approach results in a highly effective and safe method of treatment.
The uniqueness of homeopathy is that it is a patient orientated system, allowing the homeopathic doctors to cater treatment to the individual’s specific health concerns, providing excellent control and management of your acute and/or chronic ailments.

Homeopathy Summarized
|
|
| |
Homeopathy can be summarized in 3 points:
- Treat the patient as an individual and not merely on the name of their disease.
- Homeopathic medicines stimulate the body’s defense mechanisms and other processes (immune and endocrine system, etc) to treat illness and prevent disease.
- Homeopathic medications are side effect free, making homeopathy the safest complementary and alternative system of medicine which can also be used alongside prescription medications.

A Brief History of Homeopathy: Past and Present
|
| |
Homeopathy was discovered and developed in Germany in 1810 by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann and has been practiced in North America since the 19th Century, evolving with modern day clinical and medical knowledge.
In the United States of America, during the nineteenth century there were 100 homeopathic hospitals and 22 homeopathic medical colleges [1], and during this time, many orthodox physicians practiced homeopathy [2]. A prime example where homeopathy was being utilized to its full potential was The Hahnemann University Hospital located in Philadelphia, USA. This was a homeopathic hospital which treated many patients with homeopathy alone.
Today the Hahnemann University Hospital still serves patients as a hospital and medical university, where patients receive allopathic medicine (western medicine). However, the historical presence of homeopathy still exists in our modern day and is making a very strong revival.
Currently, homeopathy is readily practiced in U.S, Europe, India and Africa, as a system of medicine. In fact, in Europe and India there are private homeopathic hospitals, which run modern diagnostics and use homeopathic medicines to treat various ailments. Recently in Canada, the province of Ontario has started to regulate homeopathic practitioners.
