What is a Registered Dietitian?
A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a health professional who has a Bachelor’s degree, specializing in food and nutrition. RD often has a period of practical training in a hospital or community setting.
Registered Dietitian has met national standards for education and training. Their training focuses on clinical care of a patient and in managing one’s nutrition. Our dietitian team can help apply knowledge to issues ranging from prescription diets to helping recommend changes in diets to help achieve a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
What services do we offer?
Individual Nutrition Counseling
Our dietitian will work with you one-on-one with you to discuss your personal areas of interest or concern. The dietitian will also help customize your meal plan to help assist you meet your nutrition, health and lifestyle goals.
Dietary Analysis and Meal Planning
Our dietitians will help provide you with an in-depth look of your diet. This in-depth look of your diet is analyzed by a computer to give you the individual nutrients and calories of your current diet. After which our dietitian will compare your individual goals towards the required intake of nutrients to achieve your goal.
Your initial consultation is one hour in length in which our dietitian will need to access your 3-day food record and health history. After this your diet analysis will be prepared within a few days to help prepare your recommended nutrient intakes for total calories, carbohydrate, protein, fat, and essential vitamins and minerals.
When your diet analysis is ready you will have a follow-up session to review your dietary analysis and customized menu. To help you achieve your goals our dietitian will provide you a grocery shopping list that complements your customized menu. If you would like to have follow-up appointments this can be arranged for you.
Weight Management
Attaining a healthy weight through a healthy diet can be a frustrating and challenging transition. Our dietitian can help you develop strategies and provide you with a healthy guideline for your diet to help meet your weight loss or weight gain goals.
Your initial consultation is one hour in length in which our dietitian will need to access your 3-day food record and health history. After this your diet analysis will be prepared within a few days to help prepare your recommended nutrient intakes for total calories, carbohydrate, protein, fat, and essential vitamins and minerals.

In addition to this our dietitian will spend a day with you to help you understand how to shop better to eat a healthier diet. A dietitian for a day includes a 4 hour follow up session to review your dietary analysis and customized menu. The dietitian will provide label reading education and tips for healthy eating as well as strategies that you can use to create your own menus.
Recipe Analysis
Bring in your favorite recipe and our dietitians will help you modify it to make it healthier.
Dietitian and Nutritionist
Registered dietitians are health professionals that have completed a bachelors degree, specializing in foods and nutrition and has completed 11 months of practical training within hospitals and various community settings and have successfully passed a national board exam.
Registered dietitians must be members of a provincial regulatory body, and take continuing education every year to maintain their credentials. The term "Registered Dietitian" is protected by law so only qualified practitioners can use the titles "Dietitian", "Registered Dietitian", "Registered Nutritionist" and "RD".
Some dietitians refer to themselves as "nutritionists", but not all nutritionists are dietitians or are qualified to be giving nutrition advice. Nutritionists may have education in physiology, biology or nutritional sciences or may have little or no formal education. Be cautious who you get your nutrition information from!

Do I need a referral?
No, you can contact an RD without a referral from a family physician or another health professional.
How often would I visit with the RD?
Each individual needs are different. However, once you have met with our dietitian, they can map out a visit schedule with you. Appointments are based on individual needs and your schedule.
I have been on several diets; none have worked – so… how will this be different?
Our dietitians do not put you on a diet they will help you gain a healthier lifestyle with will allow you to live a healthier life.
My 2 year old will only eat a few items and I am worried he will not grow properly. Can you help?
